Worth Sharing Sushi Over

A Valentine’s & Galentine’s Guide to Connection, Community, and The Sushi Class.

Valentine’s Day plans tend to follow a familiar script: a stuffed bear, a dinner reservation, and a box of chocolates. While there’s nothing wrong with tradition, OQC believes February is also an opportunity to try something new. This month, we’re spotlighting experiences that create real connection, shared memories, and a little bit of fun outside the box.

That’s why we’re so excited to shine a light on Sara Wingard, founder of The Sushi Class, a business that turns food into an interactive, memorable experience. Whether you’re planning a romantic date night, a Galentine’s gathering with friends, or simply looking for something different to do this winter, sushi might just be worth sharing after all.

Meet Sara Wingard

Hi everyone, my name is Sara Wingard, and I’m the Lead of Event Planning at OQC. I’ve been part of the OQC community since 2023, when Renny, OQC’s Founder, and I first connected about promoting my business at an upcoming event. As a woman in business, I immediately knew OQC was the kind of space I wanted to grow in. A circle of like-minded women supporting one another, building meaningful businesses, and giving back to their communities.

I’m the founder and co-owner of The Sushi Class, a Connecticut-based small business specializing in immersive dining experiences. What started as hands-on sushi-making classes and beautifully curated catering displays has grown into something much bigger. Today, we offer interactive sushi stations, poke stations, and even a full mobile sushi bar experience. Our events are designed for connection and celebration, making them perfect for couples, friend groups, families, teams, and milestone moments.

A Space Built for Shared Experiences

After two incredible years filled with sold-out classes, nonstop demand, and the joy of introducing so many people to the art of sushi, we reached a milestone that still feels surreal. In November 2025, just in time for the holiday season, we officially opened the doors to our headquarters and event space.

This space represents more than growth. It’s a home for creativity, connection, and unforgettable experiences. As we move into February, it has become an ideal destination for celebrating love in all its forms. Romantic evenings, Galentine’s nights, group outings, and shared adventures all come together here.

One of the most special parts of this chapter has been sharing our home base with other incredible local businesses. Together, we’ve created an experience-driven property where you can build an entire night out under one roof.

Your Valentine’s or Galentine’s Night, Reimagined

Sharing our space are some truly standout local businesses that pair perfectly with a sushi experience:

  • Hush: A Del Soul Spa, a wellness-focused retreat with a hidden speakeasy, ideal for a little self-care or a girls’ night glow-up before or after sushi

  • Montana Nights Axe Throwing, offering high-energy fun that’s great for couples or competitive friend groups

  • GameCraft Arcade, where nostalgic games and modern arcade vibes make for an easy and playful date night addition

  • Witchdoctor Brewing Company, longtime collaborators we’ve paired with for sushi classes, blending food and craft beer into a seamless experience

  • SoLa Karaoke, perfect for ending the night laughing, singing, and celebrating together

  • Escapism Escape Rooms, a great option for couples or groups who love teamwork, puzzles, and a shared challenge

Being surrounded by such passionate, hardworking creatives has made this season of growth even more meaningful. Together, we’ve created a space where connection comes naturally and experiences are meant to be shared.

Join Us This February and Beyond

If you love sushi and want to learn something new in 2026, we’d love to have you join us for a class or bring The Sushi Class to your next private event. Most classes include hands-on sushi making, all ingredients, and often a drink pairing with a local brewery or winery depending on location.

Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, hosting a Galentine’s gathering, or simply looking for an experience worth sharing sushi over, we hope to see you soon.
